Misty is a very kind 4-yr-old draft cross (sold as blue roan, but time will tell if she's gray or blue roan) who is underweight, has horrible hooves, and is very, very pregnant. She's friendly and halter broke and loaded into the trailer nicely, so she's obviously had some basic handling in the past. She is also miserable - she has developed a cough and snotty nose from auction, and just overall doesn't seem to feel well in addition to being hugely pregnant. We are doing our best to make her feel better from a fan to unlimited food, but so far she doesn't seem to understand what grain is and is only nibbling at her hay. But we'll keep doing our best to make her feel better!
Because she is coughing, her quarantine period will be extended. We always quarantine auction horses for a minimum of 21 days - but the real rule is 21 days *without symptoms*. Her nose was less congested today, so we'll keep an eye on things and keep you posted.
