Whitney Needs Answers — and Time!

Today we’re opening Whitney’s medical fundraiser — because we’ve reached the point where only advanced diagnostics can tell us what comes next.

Whitney came to us with small facial growths that we initially hoped were simple “baby warts,” something young horses often get and outgrow. When the largest growth failed to resolve, it was surgically removed and biopsied. The results confirmed it was a sarcoid and not malignant, and under veterinary guidance we moved forward with conservative treatment.

Unfortunately, the sarcoid returned — and it has since begun growing rapidly. Conservative treatment is no longer effective, and Whitney is now at a true decision point.

Without advanced imaging, humane euthanasia would be the only remaining option.
A CT scan and specialist evaluation at the University of Minnesota will give us the information we need to make the right decision — whether that means pursuing surgery and chemotherapy, or knowing that euthanasia is the most humane path forward.
Whitney is scheduled for her CT scan and potential surgery on January 5–6, with travel on January 4 so she can arrive calm and settled. This scan will give us definitive answers — and give her a chance she would not otherwise have.

Estimated medical costs: $2,500–$4,700
Travel & winter hauling: $300–$500
Fundraising goal: $5,000

If you’re able to help Whitney get the answers she deserves, her fundraiser is now live:

We’ll share updates as we prepare, travel, and learn what comes next. Thank you for standing with Whitney — and for supporting thoughtful, compassionate care when the decisions aren’t easy.

If funds raised exceed Whitney’s medical and travel costs, remaining dollars will support medical care for other horses in our program.
