## Beau

Born in 2001

Thoroughbred** **Gelding

 Bug Club Horse Blind

Beau joined Gentle Spirit early in our history and has grown into a calm, kind **program ambassador**. He never raced due to vision loss, but he carries himself with the gentlemanly manners of a seasoned school horse. Beau is a go‑to partner for **Bug Club**—he stands quietly for **grooming/ground handling** and offers **gentle leadline rides** with staff.

**Background**
As a baby, Beau was kicked in the head by his dam, causing permanent damage to his left eye. His sire, **Come Summer**, set a track record at **Canterbury Downs** in Minnesota, but Beau’s path led to a life of education and connection instead of the racetrack.

**Personality**
Thoughtful, people‑oriented, and steady. He’s happiest with **predictable routines**, soft voices, and calm leaders.

**Favorite Things**
Grazing with friends, **long easy walks**, and the chance to **canter in an open pasture** when conditions are safe.

**Handling & Care Notes**
Approach with your **voice first**; touch at the **shoulder** before moving toward the head; avoid sudden movements on his blind side; allow **extra time** in new environments; lead with a **loose, steady feel**.

**Role at Gentle Spirit**
Beau is part of our **Bug Club education team**, helping kids learn safe, kind horsemanship.
