Foundation Division – 2026 Dakota Showdown
This is where the transformation begins.
The Foundation Division is our Mustang Makeover-style division, focused entirely on BLM mustangs — horses who are just beginning their journey with people and getting their first real foundation in trust, handling, and communication.

Special Donkey Team: Haily Chitwood & Aspen Lyons

With the exception of our donkey team, every horse in this division is a BLM mustang. These young horses come in with little to no prior handling, and the work done here will shape their future as adoptable partners.
Trainers will focus on building trust, teaching essential groundwork, and helping these mustangs gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed. While starting under saddle is allowed, the priority is creating a solid, lasting foundation.
This isn’t the easiest path — but it’s often where the most meaningful transformations happen.
We’re looking forward to watching these mustangs and trainers grow together over the coming months.
