Happy Ending for Onyx!
We first met Jay about a decade ago when he and his family started volunteering. Jay has a love of horses that goes deep and a family who enjoyed projects and spending time with the horses. Often one of the first people to earn trust from the unhandled ones, the "Js" have long been a fixture at the rescue. Then Jay himself got his own car and we saw less of the family, but more of Jay.
Jay has grown from grooming to training, participating in the Dakota Showdown for the last three years, last year in the Foundation division with BLM Mustang gelding Onyx. Unfortunately, this year he won't be participating ... because he'll be spending his time continuing training with Onyx who he adopted today.
While every time a good volunteer adopts we rarely see them out to volunteer again, we also can't be sad to see their dream of having a horse come true or seeing a horse going home with a person they trust. So ... happy adoption day, Jay and Onyx. Don't be a stranger ... but enjoy your new lives. You both deserve it
