Lucy Is Ready for a Home—Could It Be Yours?
Lucy is a 13-year-old, 15.1 hand Quarter Horse mare with solid ground manners, a friendly personality, and a soft eye that says she wants to connect.
She’s come a long way since arriving at GSH in 2023. Anxious and guarded at first—especially when separated from other horses—Lucy didn’t yet know how to trust. So we gave her what she needed most: time.
Nearly a year in pasture with a calm, steady herd helped her relax and rebuild confidence. Slowly, she started engaging with humans on her own terms, watching and learning from the horses around her.
By the time she entered the 2024 Dakota Showdown, Lucy was ready. She made great progress—leading, tying, standing quietly, and even trying out bareback rides. When she showed hesitation with the saddle, we paused and had her thoroughly vetted. The result? Clean x-rays. No kissing spine. No navicular. Just a sensitive horse asking us to go slow.
Now Lucy is ready for her next chapter.
She’s respectful on the ground, easy to be around, and looking for a person who will continue her journey with consistency and kindness. She’s lightly started under saddle and would do best with someone who understands how to build trust and confidence in a thoughtful horse.
