Update on Big D!

After a long day...it got longer.

 

 This morning Big D aka Delegate was found having a choke episode when Nina went to do chores. We treated it like any other choke, removing food and giving meds. He seemed to perk up but we were watching. Tiffany was getting ready to head west with two showdown horses to take to their trainers and would be taking the big trailer with her. Nina had Tiny Tots Bug Club Camp till 11:30.

 

After Bug Club camp Big D was still choking. Nina ran for a hitch for her truck, hooked up the backup trailer and called the vet. More meds on board. The vet wasn't available till after 5pm. We wait. At approximately 2:30 Big D seemed to have passed the choke and drank some water. We all stood down.

 

At 6:30pm, we started night chores...and Big D coughed had. We were still choking. Nina loaded him in a hurry and got to Central Dakota Animal Clinic in Platte. Big D got tubed and will be staying the night. Hopefully we are through this.

 

However, we don't know why he is chronically choking. The vet recommended a scope to see if we are dealing with a tumor, or it could be a loss of muscle due to age. Either way he needs our thoughts and prayers tonight.
