The severe drought has severely depleted our pastures. Even if we get rain tomorrow, the grazing land cannot recover this season. Because the grass is gone, we had to start feeding our winter hay supplies in JULY—two full months ahead of our usual schedule.
This early feeding creates a massive financial strain. Because of the widespread drought, regional hay prices have skyrocketed. At the same time, fundraising is down because we know inflation and the tough economy are affecting everyone’s budget.As a rescue dedicated to assisting neglected, abused, and unwanted horses, we cannot cut corners on their nutrition. They rely on us, and we rely on you.
