Welcome back, Ally, and welcome, Phoenix!

Today we welcome back a previously adopted horse, Ally, as her adopters are going through some life changes. Adopted horses always have a safe haven here — but we also extend that safe haven to their new friends. In this case, we also want to say a big "welcome" to Ally's long-term friend — but our new friend — Phoenix.

 

Ally is an 18-year-old mare we first met way back in 2017, as an owner surrender. She holds the distinction of being one of the only horses we have been unable to load into the trailer on the first try, forcing a second visit and several hours to get her to us. You can bet we worked on that! In 2019 she was adopted, and has remained in that home ever since. Ally is broke to ride, but it's been a while, so we'll have to see what she knows when the ground is not so wet.

 

Her friend for the past eight years is Phoenix, a 20-year-old gelding. We don't know much about him yet, but we know he is sweet and friendly, is said to be broke to ride, and is in need of a dental exam and float. His needs are one of the reasons his family pushed to get him here, knowing that because of their life changes they wouldn't be able to meet those needs, while we can. We look forward to getting to know him as well!

Sometimes that means welcoming back a horse we haven't seen in seven years and picking up right where we left off. And sometimes it means making room for the friend who has become part of their family along the way.

 

So welcome back, Ally. You may have been gone a long time, but you never stopped being one of ours. And welcome, Phoenix — if you're important to Ally, you've got a safe place here, too.
