What. A. Weekend.

The 2025 Dakota Showdown Finale is officially in the books, and our trainers and horses brought their absolute best.

✨ The freestyles were on a whole new level—bigger, bolder, and more creative than ever.
✨ Last year’s Grand and Reserve Champions, Annika and Bryan, returned for a dramatic rematch—separated by just half a point—and once again claimed the top two spots.
✨ And in one of our favorite moments, Rising Star youth trainer Marlee and her yearling Ivy placed 3rd overall out of every horse and trainer!

But what truly stood out this year was the atmosphere—our trainers weren’t just competitors, they were a family. They supported each other, cheered each other on, and spent the weekend hanging out, laughing, and celebrating together. The friendships and connections being built through this event are something really special.

In all, 13 horses began this year’s Showdown journey. Ten competed at the Finale, and every single one grew in confidence, skill, and partnership along the way. Five Showcase Division horses found new homes this weekend—including Smokey, adopted by his trainer Olivia. And here’s a teaser: another went home with his farrier, who was so impressed during a trim that he drove all the way from Wyoming to make him part of the family. 🐴💛

We’ll be sharing trainer reflections and adoption outcomes throughout the week—because these stories deserve to be celebrated. For now, we just want to say thank you to the trainers, adopters, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and every single person who came out to cheer, clap, and share this journey with us.

This is only the beginning—Dakota Showdown is just going to keep growing!

📅 Mark your calendars now: Dakota Showdown 2026 is already in the works.
